Camping on the Murchison River at Murchison House Station is a truly wonderful experience
The Homestead Camp Ground is a small nature-based campground and is now open all year round.
Our camp ground, situated on the banks of the Murchison River, provides a bush camping experience for anyone, provided they have at minimum basic camping equipment, cooking gear and are not reliant on power. It can provide a suitable spot for people that have a little car with a tent or roof top camper to those with a caravan or camper trailer.
The homestead camp ground is AWD accessible, however the access road is a 4km gravel road maintained by the Northampton Shire. It can become corrugated at times
All sites are unpowered. For campers who are not self-contained there is access to hot showers, flushing toilets and a basic camp kitchen. These are located at the Shearers Quarters, a short walk from the camp ground. Real camping, with a few modern comforts!
Each camp site has it’s own fire pit. (seasonal) You can purchase 20 kilo bags of pre-cut wood from the office. Please do not collect wood from around the camp ground area. “Dead Fall” provides and important habitat for plants lizards and other wildlife.
A communal fire pit with free barbecues is also available at the “Pepper Tree” , where you can relax under the stars and share stories with other campers if you like. Wood is provided for the communal camp fire.
Relax with lovely walks along the river, or you can enjoy fishing, swimming and kayaking. Or, of course you can just chill out in your chair and soak it all in.
You can use a generator but be mindful of other people around you. Generators must not be used between 5pm and 9am.
Friendly happy Dogs are permitted on the station. Please leave them in your vehicle until you arrive at your camping destination and don't walk them around the office and homestead buildings. Please keep them with you and clean up their mess. No chasing of livestock.
Motorbikes, Quadbikes and ATV's are not permitted. Flying of UAV's (Drones) is strictly prohibited.
Station Access - If you would like to explore the property in your own vehicle 4WD passes are available at the office (fees apply) You can also join a quad bike safari which takes you out onto the 350,000 acre property on the northern side of the river or you can book The Murchison Experience food and canoe safari.
Kalbarri is not far away - only a 10 minute drive. You have all the conveniences and activities that Kalbarri has to offer, and then you can come back to your own little piece of paradise.
Bookings are essential! Please contact us to book your spot by the Murchison River.
